Incident – The RNLI Blyth lifeboat Alan & Amy was called out by Humber Coastguard to go to the assistance of the 50ft motor fishing veseel Green Pastures with 4 persons on board which had suffered mechanical problems 1 mile south of the east pier Port of Blyth.

The RNLI Blyth Lifeboat was launched at 12:46 and reached the scene off South Beach Blyth at 12:52, Due to the size of the casualty vessel the lifeboat stood by until the arrival of a larger boat ti undertake a tow.

After ensuring the casualty vessel and her crew were safe and well the RNLI Blyth Lifeboat returned to station was refuled and ready for service by 14:00.

At 13:18 the fishing boat Wendy Pertricia arrived at the scene and took the Green Pastures under tow back to Souch Harbour, Port of Blyth.

Blyth Lifeboat DLA said the fishing boat may of been a dificult tow due to its size but the main duty of the crew of the RNLI Blyth lifeboat was to ensure the safety of the four persons on the Green Pastures.
