Incident – Blyth’s inshore lifeboat was requested to launch by Humber Coastguard after members of the public reported seeing two surfboarders who seemed to be in difficulty, waving their arms in the air just off Seaton Sluice, South of the Port of Blyth.

The lifeboat launched at 20:20 and reached the scene at 20:25. The two surfboarders who had managed to make their own way to shore safely were met by Blyth Coastguard and after making sure the two persons were safe the lifeboat and BLyth coastguard returned to Station by 20:45.

The lifeboat was made ready for service agian by 21:00.

Blyth Lifeboat Operations Manager Mr. John Scott said “I would thank the members of the public who observed the incident and promptly alerted the rescue services”
