Incident – Blyth’s inshore lifeboat was called out by HM Coastguard to search for a man reported missing in an area south of St Marys Island, Whitley Bay.

Blyth lifeboat began a search of the area from Seaton Sluice to Whitley Bay whilst the inshore lifeboatfrom Cullercoats and the All Weather Lifeboat from Tynemouth searched further south.

At 12.25 pm it was reported that the man had been found safe and well at Whitley Bay.

The lifeboat then returned to Station was ready for service again at 12.40 pm.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Mr. John Scott said “It was good that the man was found safe and the extensive training of RNLI lifeboat crews was reflected in the search operation”.
