Incident – HM Coastguard called out Blyth’s inshore Lifeboat the ‘Jennie B’ following a report of a woman at risk of falling from the Dun Cow Quay Blyth Harbour into the River Blyth.
 
The Lifeboat was launched at 14:05 and reached the scene at 14:06, rescued the woman from the river and took her to the lifeboat station pontoon. Police helicopter ‘India 99’ was also at the scene.

The lifeboat had returned to the station pontoon by 14:15 and handed the casualty to waiting police and ambulance.

The lifeboat was ready for service again at 14:25.

An RNLI Blyth Lifeboat Station spokesman said ‘The lifeboat crew training  helped to make this an efficient rescue and fortunately the casualty was quickly recovered from the cold river water’.
