Blyth’s inshore lifeboat was requested to launch to reports of two swimmers in difficulty who were holding onto the post at the end of an outfall pipe in Cambois bay.

The stations D Class inshore lifeboat was launched shortly after 1:45pm and proceeded north to the scene, upon arrival the two persons were quickly located and once an initial assessment was made it was decided to use the rescue helicopter from RAF Boulmer to transfer the two casualties to hospital in Newcastle.
