Incident – Blyth’s inshore lifeboat was requested to launch following a 999 call to Humber Coastguard reporting a small fishing vessel which appeared to be having difficulty making its way back to Seaton Sluice harbour approximately 3 miles south of Blyth.
The lifeboat was launched and once on scene, along with Blyth Coastguard mobile unit, proceeded to search the area between Seaton Sluice harbour entrance and Collywell Bay.
Blyth Coastguard mobile unit established contact with the 999 caller who identified that the vessel they were concerned about had now re-entered Seaton Sluice harbour.
The lifeboat then proceeded into Seaton Sluice harbour having to negotiate 3ft waves breaking across the harbour mouth to check that al onboard were safe ad well.
Once it was established that the 2 persons onboard the vessel were safe and well the lifeboat left Seaton Sluice harbour and returned to station.
