Volunteer crew from Blyth RNLI were paged on Friday 21 July at 2.05pm by UK Coastguard

The UK Coastguard had requested Blyth RNLI to launch in response to a ‘Mayday’ radio message received.

The B Class inshore lifeboat Vic & Bille Whiffen was launched at 2.15pm and headed to the casualty vessel that was half a mile east from the Dave Stephens Centre at South Beach Blyth.

The cabin cruiser was quickly located and found to be suffering from engine problems.

The volunteer crew set up a tow and soon had the cabin cruiser moored at South Harbour Blyth.

The Inshore Lifeboat then returned to Station and was made ready for service at 3pm.
