As temperatures start to drop, Asda in Blyth has donated local lifeboat volunteers some winter warmers to help refresh supplies for the year ahead.

Lifeboat Operations Manager, John Scott along with members of the Blyth RNLI crew visited their local Asda on Cowpen Road  to meet colleagues and customers and receive the £300 donation. The money will be used for cleaning materials such as buckets, mops and cloths as well as keeping the station stocked with tea, coffee and other refreshments for the crew.

They took one of the training boats along to help raise awareness of the work they do 365 days of the year.

Andy Dallmen, Store Manager for Asda Blyth, says: “The local RNLI station is open all year round and the volunteers that devote their time to the emergency service are on call no matter what the weather, be it rain, wind or snow! We wanted to make sure that they had everything they need to keep the winter chill at bay but also to keep them stocked up on kitchen essentials like tea and coffee.

“Here at Asda we always want to support and celebrate local heroes of the community.”
