Blyth Lifeboat was today involved in a joint training exercise between the RNLI and RAF.

An RAF Sea King helicopter from RAF Boulmer and Blyth’s IB1 (D Class) Lifeboat the ‘Jennie B’ were both involved in a joint exercise. The exercise involved transfering several crew members from the lifeboat back and forth to the helicopter to ensure both crews have knowledge and experience of the techniques used. This experience is vital to the crews from both organisations as if needed to be carried out for real every second could count and mistakes could cause unnecisarry risks and delays.
