The Mickley Woman’s Group have been sending donations to the RNLI at Blyth Lifeboat Station for some years and for some time have planned to visit the Station, meet the crew and see the Lifeboat ‘Jennie B’.

On the 7th June 2011 a group of the ladies travelled to Blyth. They were welcomed by the Lifeboat Operations Manager and introduced to volunteers who crew the lifeboat.

The ladies talked to the crew and learned about the training and work needed to be a competent Crew Member and be able to deal with whatever they may meet when going out on a rescue. The visitors saw the crew don their suits and safety equipment. They then saw the Lifeboat being launched and proceed on an exercise.

Mrs. Marion Symons of the group said ‘We have been making donations to the RNLI for some years and it was lovely to meet the RNLI Crew volunteers and see the ‘Jennie B’. It was also interesting to see the equipment used by the crew members in saving lives at sea’.

The RNLI Blyth Lifeboat Operations Manager Mr. John Scott said ‘It was good to welcome the group and show them around the lifeboat station’.
