On Sunday the 15th August 2010 the Blyth Personal Watercraft Club presented a donation of £141 to the RNLI to say thank you for being there if something goes wrong.

An example of being there when needed happened on Sunday 11th July 2010 when one of the club members was off South Beach Blyth and the engine of his Personal Watercraft failed and he was being blown out to sea by a strong offshore wind, I Blyth lifeboat crew brought him and his craft safely to shore.

Blyth Lifeboat Operations Manager Mr John Scott accepted the cheque from Mr Darren Daglish Chairman of the Blyth Personal Watercraft Club and thanked the Club Members for their support of the RNLI. John Scott also said ‘The Club encouraged and advised members on the safe use of their Personal Watercraft and that the RNLI was there to give safety advice as well as saving lives at sea’.
