The Annual General Meeting of Blyth Lifeboat Station and the Ladies Guild was held in the Watch House, North Gate, Blyth Harbour at 19:30 on 27th April 2011.
John Scott the Lifeboat Operations Manager in his report said that the Blyth Lifeboat had during the year ended 31st December 2010 been called out by the HM Coastguard on 26 occasions. Which made 2010 the busiest year for the station for a decade. He also reported on Lifeboat Crew training during the year, which included, Marine Radio Certificate of competency, attending national courses for Helmsman, Competent Crew, and in the coming months several crew members will be attending a First Aid Course.
The Station Treasurer in his report reviewed the financial position of the Station and in particular he stated that the Ladies Guild and the Station had raised and received donations during the year ended 31st December 2010 totalling £14,990.72.
The Blyth Lifeboat Station Chairman in his report summing up the year’s activities thanked everyone for the hard work in raising the funds and praised the crew for their dedicated service of saving lives at sea.
The Guest Speaker from RNLI Northern Base thanked the crew and the fund raising team for their hard work, and hoped that in the current economic situation that they would continue to raise the funds needed for running the RNLI Lifeboat Station in Blyth. In his concluding remarks he said that is was anticipated that building work on the new lifeboat house would start in the coming months.
