On Saturday 20th July at Blyth RNLI volunteer crew took the opportunity to say ‘Thank You’ to family and friends of the lifeboat station for their support over the past year.
The event which is supported by the RNLI, is a chance for everyone that is connected to the station to be able to come together in a relaxed atmosphere.
The volunteer crew had organised a barbecue, and a surprise for two of the attendees that afternoon.
Firstly, Gordon Elwen was presented with a certificate and gift from the Barry Pearson, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Blyth RNLI for recognising 30 years of dedication and professional service to the RNLI at Blyth. Gordon held various roles including that of Lifeboat Press Officer and has recently stepped down from being the station’s treasurer.
Then, Dave Brown had his service acknowledged. Dave who has been at the station since 2005 was responsible for providing presentations both on and off the lifeboat station about the work of the RNLI.
Speaking on behalf of Blyth RNLI, Barry Pearson said; ’On behalf of the volunteer crew and the friends and family gathered, and the charity as a whole,‘Thank You’ for the contribution that both had made over the years and it was recognised the role that both Gordon and Dave had played for Blyth RNLI being in the position that it is today.’
