The RNLI’s D-Class capsize training boat has this week arrived at Blyth Lifeboat Station, The capsize boat is a stripped down version of an RNLI D-Class boat, the predesessor of the Stations current IB1. The capsize boat will be staying on station for approx 1 month to allow all of the crew to experience a capsize and practise the techniques used to re-write a lifeboat. The capsize boat and the training it involves are part of the RNLI’s ongoing training for lifeboat crews, more information on which is available here
