Members of the Blyth Lifeboat Station and Ladies Guild invite supporters to the Open Day to be held on the 2nd of July 2011, 12.30pm to 4.30pm at the RNLI Lifeboat Station, North Gate, South Harbour Blyth.
This year the event will be opened at 12.30 pm by Keith Martin of Magic Radio.
Meet the crew and talk about lifeboats. The RNLI Blyth Station has a history of over 200 years of saving lives at sea. During those years the class of lifeboats has changed from sail and oar, to today’s sate of the art power craft capable of speeds of 25 knots.
Other attractions will include a live band, stalls, boat trips, face painting, children’s roundabout and a trampoline, teas and refreshments, jet ski display, and the Summer Draw will be made.
This year the RNLI Sea Safety road show will visit us, talk to the team about sea and beach safety, and for boat owners the opportunity of having your lifejackets checked for free at an RNLI lifejacket clinic.
The RNLI Blyth Lifeboat ‘Jennie B’ which during the year 2010 was launched on service on 20 occasions, 12 of which were during July making it the busiest month for a decade will be on the water along with lifeboats from neighbouring stations.
