Blyth Lifeboat Station is currently undergoing a series of refurbishments and updates to improve many areas of operation including the following.
- Launch & Recovery Facilities
- Crew Changing Areas
Washing & Drying of protective clothing
- Storage & Maintenance
The station building was originally constructed in 1928 so now in 2008 some updates and refurbishments are much needed. Below are some images of the work in progress (click for a larger image).
Crew Changing – Our slipway room which originally housed the lifeboat is in the process of being converted to a more suitable crew changing area.
Kitchen Facilities, Washing & Drying Of Protective Clothing – Part of the original crew room is undergoing refurbishment work to provide facilites which both meet current health and safety regualtions and allow the crew to take better care of protective equipment and clothing thus extending its life and reducing replacement costs.
