Sun and suds at Blyth RNLI
On Saturday 5 May 2018 volunteer crew from Blyth RNLI held their Charity Car Wash.
The sun was shining on Blyth RNLI lifeboat station where the volunteer crew together with the Ladies Guild and Shop Volunteers raised funds for the charity’s ‘Do your bit fund our kit’ campaign.
Each year the RNLI hold a ‘Mayday’ campaign which this year aims to raise £750,000 to fund essential kit for the volunteer crew.
The volunteer crew at Blyth did their bit by opening up the lifeboat station to the public to wash cars whilst refreshments were provided by the Ladies Guild.
The event proved to be more popular than last year with over 70 cars being cleaned and £900 raised.
Barry Pearson, Deputy Launch Authority from Blyth RNLI commented on the day, ‘It was great to see everyone at the Station working together and the local community come out to support us. We’d like to thank everyone who made donations towards the Mayday campaign.’
